AMI- Lombardia 2004 – ‘Modern lace’ and the works of Lombardy schools

The Museum hosts, for the fifth year running, “Associazione Merlettaie Italiane” and the exhibition on ‘Modern lace’, which is part of “Progetto Penelope”. Modern lace technique merges various types of bobbin laces (made of silk, linen, cotton, and metallic thread) with designs, colours and shapes so as to create garments, jewels and much more.
The contemporary section displays the works of 20 bobbin lace schools from Lombardy, some of which participating for the very first time.
The yearly stage is taking place on 1st, 2nd and 3rd October with teacher Mira Fidanza from Switzerland. In particular, she is going to propose the creation of a three-dimensional lace made of silk, cotton, linen or metal.
